Blackwork, sometimes called Spanish blackwork, is a counted embroidery technique that dates back to the time of Catherine of Aragon and Henry VIII. Traditionally created with black thread on white fabric, blackwork is an intricate technique that mimics lace when completed. In this class, students will learn how to follow a traditional blackwork pattern and complete a small square of blackwork, which could be framed or continued to create a larger piece. Students will leave class with all the materials, patterns, and skills to continue stitching on their own. Workshop is limited to 12 participants.
