Spend the day learning and experimenting with simple natural dye techniques to create beautiful and sustainable natural colors. We will review the theory behind plant-based dye baths, modifiers, and mordants. We will experiment with several dye baths including pomegranate, quebracho rojo, logwood and osage orange, to achieve a wide-ranging palette of colors. While the fabric is soaking in the dye bath, we will have time to do some improvisational stitching on pre-dyed fabric samples and enjoy a snack from Cafe Osage. All materials will be provided, and you will leave with your samples and a dye journal. This workshop involves the use of dye, so please dress accordingly in clothing that may be stained. Workshop is limited to 10 people.
