Clusters of lovely, trumpet-like red or pink blooms are surrounded by emerald green foliage that resembles that of a rhododendron. Older plants form a thick caudex (swollen root) which sometimes becomes twisted and sculptural and adds a stately beauty, making this plant a great bonsai candidate. An Arabian native that thrives in warm and sunny conditions and loves a summer vacation outdoors, it is easy to maintain and happy to bloom for both beginner and expert houseplant gardeners. Do not overwater, feed with a high nitrogen fertilizer, and keep temperatures above 60⁰, preferably between 70⁰ and 100⁰. Deciduous during winter dormancy. All parts of this plant are poisonous to pets and humans if ingested.
