Native to sub-Saharan regions of Africa, Adenium obesum are known for their thick-stemmed, trunk-like succulent stalks that display sparse glossy green leaves. In their native habitats, Desert Rose can grow up to 9-11 feet tall, though indoors they stay much smaller and prefer a snug fit in containers. Thriving in well-drained, sandy soils, Adenium obesum are extremely sensitive to overwatering so let soil dry out between waterings. Although blooming is sparse and sporadic, highly ornamental bell-shaped flowers appear in pinks, reds, and whites. Milky sap within plant is poisonous so wash hands thoroughly if contact is made. Plant can go dormant and defoliate completely in off-season.
