Also called Sweet Mace and Yerbaniz. Shiny, bright green leaves are topped with clusters of golden-yellow flowers toward the end of summer. Anise-flavored leaves may be used as a tarragon substitute for flavoring meat and egg dishes, soups and sauces. Harvest the leaves as needed or when in flower for drying to make a good digestive and mildly soporific tea. Attracts bees and other pollinators.
